Female Conditions

Overview

There are a variety of disorders that occur only in females. Some of these conditions are common such as acne, migraines, and painful menstrual cycles. And many times they can be easily fixed when the root of the problem is found.

Common Female Disorders:

  • Estrogen dominance
  • Estrogen deficiency
  • Pre-menopausal issues
  • Pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS)
  • Progesterone deficiency

Symptoms

If you have one of the aforementioned issues, you should schedule a meeting with the resident doctor, Dr. George Allibone M.D., to discuss what can be done about correcting the problem. The issues may include fibrocystic breast disease, irregular menstrual cycles, menopause and peri-menopause, premenstrual syndrome and premenstrual dysphoric syndrome (severe form of PMS), painful menstrual cycles, postpartum depression, painful intercourse, migraines, acne, night sweats, weight gain and a host of other conditions that may be simply a result of an imbalance of your sex hormones, such as rising blood pressure and increasing cholesterol.

Management Plan

The issues will be assessed following a detailed history, tests to evaluate different hormone levels including the sex hormones, thyroid hormonal panel and cortisol levels. At the Houston Wellness Clinic we utilize only bioidentical hormones and offer various routes of administration, but prefer creams in most cases. Other maladies such as weight gain despite dieting, infertility, insomnia and problems with memory and concentration (which are often related to "hormonal" disturbances) will be discussed and management options offered. Managements usually consist of a specialized combination of supplements, lifestyle changes, change in diet, bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, and possibly IV therapies.

At the Houston Wellness Clinic, we are dedicated to finding the source of the issue and fixing it instead of just managing symptoms. By fixing the cause, the condition will be less likely to return in the future, and each patient can get closer to achieving optimal health.

If we fill our hours with regrets of yesterday and with worries of tomorrow, we have no today in which to enjoy our existence. Seize the day, and take control of your health and life. How you are going to live those tomorrows will depend on how you act and choose today. - George Allibone M.D.
