Managing Macular Degeneration with HBOT

Overview

Macular degeneration is a medical condition that typically affects adults over the age of 50. It results in a loss of centrifugal vision due to retina damage. This condition can take one of two forms: "wet" or "dry" and eventually lead to major visual impairment or blindness. In some cases, macular degeneration patients are left with just enough peripheral vision to maintain the completion of daily activities. At the onset of macular degeneration, yellow deposits called drusen begin to collect in the macula, and at this point, most patients still have good vision. However, most of these same patients go on to form an advanced case of the condition called age-related macular degeneration (AMD or ARMD).
